Covered are property damage, financial losses, and personal injuries.

These insured amounts significantly exceed the legally required minimum limits.

Own Property Damage Coverage

Covered are property damages you cause to your own assets (such as another vehicle or a building) using the insured vehicle.

If you are involved in an accident abroad in Europe through no fault of your own, we will compensate your damages according to German law and standards, up to the agreed insurance sums.

Theft and robbery of the vehicle and permanently installed parts (e.g., infotainment system) are insured.

In Comfort and Premium, the vehicle key is also insured if it is stolen through burglary (e.g., break-in into a building) or robbery. We reimburse the costs for replacing door and steering locks or for reprogramming.

Insured are damages caused by:

The type of animal involved does not matter.

Covered are breakage damages to the glazing of your vehicle (e.g., windshield, glass roof).

Note: If the glass breakage damage is repaired without replacing the glass, no deductible will be applied.

The new or purchase price of the vehicle is insured: In the event of a total loss or theft, we will reimburse you the new or purchase price instead of the replacement value for the stated period.

The maximum compensation amount is €100,000 in Direct and Direct Plus.

• Covered are damages directly caused by events such as hail, storms from wind force 7, flooding, earthquakes, and all types of avalanches.

• Also insured are damages caused by objects being thrown onto or against the vehicle as a result of such natural events.

As climate change progresses, extreme weather events (e.g., heavy hail, storms and hurricanes, floods, heavy rain, droughts, and heat waves) are becoming increasingly common. Covered are damages caused by fire and explosion, as well as scorch and singe damage (e.g., short circuit).

• In the Comfort and Premium plans, this coverage also applies to rental cars picked up within Germany.

• GAP insurance (difference coverage) is an additional feature of the comprehensive insurance for leased or financed vehicles.

• In case of a total loss or theft, it covers the difference between the remaining loan or lease amount and the vehicle's replacement value on the day of the damage.

All products include partial coverage for the battery and charging accessories (e.g. mobile charger, cable) of your electric or hybrid car. The agreed new value compensation also applies to the battery:
• Direct Plus and Comfort: 24 months
• Premium: 36 months

In Comfort and Premium, the following services for the battery are also covered:
• Cost of condition diagnostics and residual value determination
• Cost of transport and storage in a water container

Additionally, under the comprehensive insurance (Vollkasko), your own fixed charging station (wallbox or induction plate) is covered in Comfort and Premium if it is damaged due to:

The Value Retention Guarantee module extends your new purchase or purchase price compensation for up to 60 months. If the purchase price on the date of the claim is higher than the original purchase price, we will additionally reimburse an increase in value of up to ten percent.

Liability insurance is legally required. It suits anyone who only needs basic protection. This low-cost option is often sufficient for older vehicles with visible wear and tear. It covers damage you cause to other people or property. Basic protection covers claims for compensation made by third parties.

  • Mallorca coverage is included in liability insurance.

Individual Modules

Those who want to enhance their protection can choose from a wide range of add-on options with Allianz. Depending on your security needs, you can, for example, get better coverage abroad, include other drivers in your policy, or even be rewarded for careful driving.

The BonusDrive telematics tariff rewards safe driving and is especially suitable for young drivers to reduce car insurance costs. Those who drive cautiously can save up to 30% on their premium. Additionally, there's a one-time 10% starting bonus. Available in the Comfort and Premium plans.

If you have Allianz car insurance with Discount Protection, your no-claims class remains unchanged after one liability or comprehensive claim per insurance year. Available in Comfort and Premium plans.

Note: If you switch insurers, we are legally required to share the no-claims class you would have had without Discount Protection.

Extend your car insurance with Driver Protection and Allianz will pay up to €15 million for injured drivers. Liability insurance only covers passengers, so this add-on fills that gap. Available online in all Allianz product lines.

You can decide where to repair your vehicle: either at a workshop of your choice or in a certified partner garage for guaranteed quality.

The Comfort and Premium plans offer free workshop choice by default. With the Workshop Bonus add-on, you opt for partner garages and receive a 20% discount on your comprehensive premium.

In the Direct and DirectPlus lines, workshop control is mandatory. However, you can upgrade with the Free Workshop Choice option and still receive full reimbursement.

Allianz roadside assistance packages get you back on the road quickly and offer breakdown help from your doorstep. In Comfort and Premium, you can select the Premium Assistance option starting from €19.90/year. With Direct or Direct Plus, you can optionally add the Mobility Guarantee.

Premium Protection keeps your premium stable. For example, if the vehicle class changes, this add-on prevents a price increase. Only available via local agents for Comfort and Premium plans.

Add Foreign Damage Protection to your car insurance and Allianz will handle non-fault accident claims abroad according to German law. Available online in Comfort and Premium. Included by default in Direct Plus.

With the Value Protection Guarantee, you extend your new/replacement value coverage in case of total loss or theft by 24 months—up to 48 months in Comfort and 60 months in Premium.

When reimbursing purchase price, Allianz also pays an inflation bonus of up to 10% depending on actual value increases. For new value compensation, value increases are automatically considered.

Frequently asked questions about car insurance

The electronic insurance confirmation (eVB number) is provided by your car insurance provider. You need the seven-digit alphanumeric combination to register your car at the registration office.

If you take out a new car insurance policy with Allianz, you will receive the eVB number online immediately after completing the contract.

If you already have an Allianz Comfort or Premium car insurance and need a new eVB number (e.g. due to a move), you can request one online. Just enter the reason for the request and your license plate number into the form. The eVB will then be sent to you by email, SMS, or post.

If you have driven more (or less) than originally estimated, you should update the agreed annual mileage with your car insurance provider.

If you're insured under Allianz Comfort or Premium, you can report your new mileage online. We’ll adjust your contract and premium accordingly. If you drive less, your premium may decrease and you might receive a refund for the past year. Your coverage remains unchanged.

Customers with Allianz Direct or Direct Plus policies can make these changes at www.allianzdirect.de by logging into MeinAccount.

You cannot transfer a car insurance policy or your claim-free discount directly. However, it is possible to transfer your claim-free class (SF class).

This can be done within Allianz Comfort or Premium policies — for example, to family members, for a second car, or when changing insurers. This makes it easier to provide your children with cheaper insurance options.

Important: SF classes can only be transferred for liability and comprehensive coverage, not for partial coverage.

If you have lived or worked abroad in Europe and had a car insurance policy there, you may be able to transfer your SF class to a German insurance contract. The specific conditions can be found in our claim-free class guide.

Had an accident or damaged another vehicle? You can report the incident quickly and easily using Allianz’s online tool. If you’ve placed the Allianz sticker on your windshield, simply scan the QR code to access the claim form directly.

Customers with Comfort or Premium plans can also call the Allianz claims hotline at 0800 11223344 (or 00800 11223344 from abroad). Allianz handles your case personally and typically resolves it within five days.

If you purchased Allianz Direct or Direct Plus online, you can log in to MeinAccount at www.allianzdirect.de to report your claim online.

Your car insurance can be suspended for up to ten years. During this time, your last claim-free class (SF class) will be frozen.

After ten years, your claim-free discount will expire. You can find your last SF classification in your final premium invoice.

Your car insurance becomes valid once your insurer accepts your application, provides you with the eVB number, and issues the policy document.

No, November 30 is only the cancellation deadline if your policy starts on January 1 and ends on December 31. If your contract runs, for example, from February 1 to January 31 of the following year, the cancellation deadline shifts to December 31. Seasonal license plates may also affect the deadline.

In general: Your cancellation must reach the insurer no later than one month before the contract ends. There may also be special termination rights under certain circumstances.

There is no special car insurance for seniors. However, from around the age of 68, insurers typically apply a surcharge to the premium due to increased accident rates in older drivers, according to the German Insurance Association (GDV).

Important: A surcharge does not necessarily mean higher premiums. If you have many years of accident-free driving, you’ll benefit from a higher no-claims bonus (SF class), which reduces your premium and can offset age-related surcharges. A 75-year-old can actually pay less than a 25-year-old. It’s always worth checking individual discounts when comparing options.

Yes, if your vehicle is registered in Germany, your insurance usually covers you throughout most European countries for up to six months.

However: some countries are excluded. Always read your policy terms carefully before traveling—especially if you plan to drive outside the EU.

Warning: Car insurance laws abroad may differ from German standards. If another driver causes an accident and damages your vehicle, their insurance may not fully cover your costs. The Allianz add-on “International Damage Protection” (AuslandsSchadenSchutz) offers extended coverage in such cases.

Your car insurance is valid within the geographic boundaries of Europe and in non-European territories that are part of the European Union.
